Itrabo is situated at the
base of the Bodijar Mountain range only a few kilometres
from the Mediterranean Sea. Records show that the area
has been inhabited continuously since the XII century.
The centre of the village is a maze of narrow streets
and whitewashed houses with balconies full of brightly
coloured flowers. Places of interest in the village
include the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen,
the hermitage of the Virgen de la Salud and the Carenata
fountain.
The countryside around
Itrabo is stunning, ideal for walking or horse riding
and the beach is only a 15 minute drive away. For golf
lovers the 18 hole ‘Los Moriscos’ golf course is right
next to the beach. The main town of Motril is about 20
minutes by car and has a shopping centre, supermarkets,
services – all the amenities you may need.
Not to be missed is the
picturesque town of Salobreña and its castle perched on
the hill.
Both Malaga and Granada
airports are about an hour’s drive away.
